Internal Auditor (remote working optional)
This well-recognised multinational is seeking an Internal Auditor to join their team based in Dublin, with remote working optional from anywhere in Ireland. While working from home is now the norm, this business offered flexible working arrangements to the team prior to 2020. International travel for the team was always limited and again will continue to be in the future. It is a very flexible working environment, offering 4-day week options in the summer and flexibility throughout the year in general.
They are seeking a confident internal audit professional, or a qualified accountant with external audit experience. You will gain global exposure across various departments and stakeholders within HR, marketing, finance and operations, to name just a few.
The Role
- Attend audit team planning meetings and audit kick-off meeting with stakeholders
- Obtains and reviews prior year audit work paper and successfully complete all audit planning and fieldwork activities
- Assists with the identification of recommendations to improve audit processes
- Performs detailed walkthroughs with relevant business process owners and writes narratives/conclusions based on assessments
- Tests design and operation of internal controls, processes and procedures to ensure identified risk areas are appropriately covered
- Evaluates data analytic results for trends, process issues and potentially fraudulent activity
- Participates in the evaluation of design and operating effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls over the audit entity under review
- Conduct audit reporting to comment on observations and risk identification
- Supports efforts to obtain management agreement regarding audit observations and risk assessment or ensure that all differences are appropriately resolved or reported
- Develop trusting working relationships with audit team members, audit clients, and other key stakeholders throughout the organisation
- Proactively attends training seminars and conferences to develop and share information gained with team members
The Candidate
- Qualified Accountant with external auditing (Big 4) experience, or minimum of one year of relevant audit experience in internal auditing, accounting, internal controls or data analysis
- Ideally applied knowledge of internal auditing standards (IIA), IT audit, generally accepted audit standards, accounting principles and practices, audit/accounting terminology and concepts
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others
- Working understanding of project planning and implementation, including the ability to work effectively with tight timelines
